E.E. Smith's 1967 championship game ball and the trophy are on display at the Orange Street School.
Smith football and trophy

Halfback Jerry Crossing carried this football across the goal line in the 1967 state 4-A championship game.

It was the only score as E.E. Smith defeated Winston-Salem Paisley 6-0 for the title.

E.E. Smith recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff at the 31 yard line. Crossing ran for 18 yards and then 13 yards for the score.

The rest of the game, played in a steady rain, was a defensive struggle.

Marks on this tape told firefighters where fire alarms had sounded.
Fire alarm ticker

This ticker tape did not record stock prices. It recorded fire alarms in Fayetteville for more than 40 years, starting in 1940. The marks on the tape indicated which red fire box had been pulled. Box 515 was at the corner of Virginia Avenue and Wilson Street.

All calls came into Fire Station 2 on Olive Road in Haymount. There was a battery backup system in case of a power failure.
